Canoe & Kayak

If you’re looking for a dose of solitude and breathtaking scenery, Mississagi Provincial Park is the place for you. Canoeing Semiwite Lake, you’ll find two secluded beaches near the far end of the lake, as well as an island on the south side. And if you’re up for a bit of a hike, a short portage from Semiwite will take you across to Helenbar Lake. There’s also a backcountry campsite on the east shore of Helenbar if you’re looking to really get away from it all. Plus, Helenbar Lake is the site of a 1946 crash landing of a Gloster Meteor – Britain’s first jet fighter to fly in World War Two. So if you’re interested in a little bit of history, there’s that, too. All in all, Mississagi Provincial Park is an ideal spot for those who are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in nature.

Canoe & Kayak Rental

Canoes can be rented by the day or half-day for use on the lakes in and around the park. Personal floatation devices (PFDs) are available with a $25 refundable deposit.

Where to Launch

Boat launches are located on Semiwite Lake in the campground, and on Flack Lake in the day use area.
